How It Goes

A wedding is a fairytale, and I’ll help you tell it. Not just different, but better!

Together we go through the following steps:

Step #1

The 1st moment of contact

As soon as I receive your information from the municipality of Lansingerland, Albrandswaard or Waddinxveen,  I’ll send you a congratulatory email. This email will include what you can expect from me and how to reach me. From that point on, I’ll be available to assist you, and consultation is always possible.

If you’re getting married in a different municipality or prefer a formal ceremony, the first step is a matchmaking session (free and without obligation), so we can ensure we’re a good fit. I’ll then prepare a quote for your ceremony. If you agree, I’ll ask for a 20% deposit of the quoted price. After receiving payment, the agreement is final, the date is set, and I’ll be your officiant/registrar/ceremonial speaker.

Step #2

Gathering information

Approximately four to six weeks before your wedding day, I’ll contact you to schedule an introductory meeting. You’ll also receive a list of questions. The answers will give me a sense of who you are and how you view each other and your relationship. I’ll also seek out inspiring stories and anecdotes from people close to you who entrust you with this honorable task.

Step #3

The meeting

The introductory meeting will ideally take place at your home. We’ll discuss your wishes and expectations. Together, we’ll determine the details of the ceremony: from the entrance to the music, responsibilities for the children, accommodating loved ones who are absent, whether or not to recite wedding vows, performing appropriate rituals from your culture, and so on. I’ll brainstorm with you, and together we’ll create the ceremony of your dreams.

Step #4

Writing the speech

With all the information I have received from you and a number of loved ones, I will start working on writing a beautiful and appropriate speech.

Step #5

The day of your wedding

As a registrar, I’m not just officiating the wedding on your wedding day. I arrive on-site well in advance to check the setup, discuss the final details with the master of ceremonies, review the program with the music staff, and discuss with the photographer/videographer what’s needed to beautifully capture the memory. Naturally, I’ll meet the witnesses, (grand)parents, and other loved ones with special responsibilities beforehand. And then, once all the guests are present and I’ve briefly seen and spoken with you, now the bride and groom, we’ll get started.

Step #6, final step

Looking back

About three months after your wedding day, I’ll contact you again to ask how life is going as a married couple and how you look back on our time together and the wedding ceremony.
